JOSHUA's PASSOVER n the SABBATH

  Genesis 1:14-15; 16-17; 18-19; On the fourth day Yehawah Eloheyem set in order the sun, moon, and stars. The great light of the sun would established the 24 hour period that governs the day. The lesser light of the moon would be used to calculate monthly events called (Moedim = appointed times or seasons) and the passing of years. The Moedim are the High Holy appointed times of Passover, Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles.
  Genesis 2:2-3; On the seventh day Yehawah Eloheyem rested and established His seventh day Sabbath as Holy. The sun is used to calculate the 24-hour day and count to the weekly seventh day Sabbath.
   The moon is only used to establish the appointed times for the seasonal Moedim. The  29 1/2 day moon cycle forms a predictable pattern that coincides with the solar equinox. Both the earth and moon follow elliptical orbits that produce observable variations that repeat every 19 solar years. The term month originated from the observation of lunar cycles. The 29 1/2 lunar cycle comes to an end as a new moon occurrs during the daylight hours of day 30. The new moon passes between the sun and the day-lit face of the earth. Every other month there will be an additional day added and the new moon celebration will be completed on day 31.

  It should seem obvious from simple mathematics that the seventh day Sabbath calculation will not consistently synchronize with a 29 1/2 day lunar cycle. There is a strange error made by some Bible students that assume the lunar cycle must be used to establish the seventh day Sabbath.

 Leviticus 23:1-2; 3; 4; 5; 6-7; 8;  9-10; 11; 14; 15; 16; 21; 23-24; 26-27; 28; 32; 33-34; 35-36; 37; 39;  This error is constructed from the Commandments that establish appointed times for High Holy convocations that can also be called Sabbaths. Using moon cycles to calculate weekly Sabbath predict that the seventh day must always occur on day 8, 15, 22, and 29 of the lunar month. This presumptuous conclusion overlooks the obvious mathematical error of refusing to count day 30 every other month when a 2 day new moon celebration ends on day 31 that also begins the next month. Every other month there is an additional day 30 added to the lunar cycle.
  Another problem is evident when comparing the 7 days of Unleavened Bread to the 8 days of the Feast of Tabernacles. Both appointed convocations begin on the 15 day of a lunar cycle but one ends on the 21st and the other on the 22nd. The weekly Sabbath functions separately from all the seasonal appointed times, including the Feast of Trumpets on the 1st day and Atonement on the 10th day of the 7th lunar cycle.
  There should be sufficient mathematical inconsistency to prove that the lunar cycle cannot be used to calculate the seventh day weekly Sabbath. But, persistent errors may be difficult to correct and people with misguided assumptions demand more proof.

Genesis 4:3-4; 7:11; 8:13; 14;  20; From the beginning of Genesis to the time of Noah's flood there is evidence of appointed times and the use of lunar cycles to establish the beginning of Yehawah's seasonal yearly calendar. 

 Genesis 15:1; 12-13; 14; 17:1-2; 9; 11; 15-16; 19; 21-22; 23; 18:14; 21:2; 22:1-2; 8; 9; 10-11; 12; 14; The story of Abraham record several important events and they all occurred on the appointed time of Passover. Abraham received the covenant promise on Passover exactly 430 years before the future Exodus of Israel from Egypt. 13 years later, Yehawah renews His Passover covenant with Abraham and adds the sign of circumcision and a promise of Sarah giving birth at the same appointed time next year.  At the appointed time, Yehawah commands Abraham to sacrifice Isaac exactly 30 years after the original Passover covenant was ratified. This 30 year addition to the original Genesis 15:13; completes the 430 years required to reach Passover in Exodus 12:40-41; 42; .

 Exodus 12:2; 18; 40-41; 42; 40:2; 17; Lev 23:5; Nu 9:2; 5; 28:16; 33:3; Jos 4:19; Yehawah instructed Moses to continue in the pattern established from the beginning of Genesis, that follows the lunar cycle that predict months and seasons in years. Yehawah commanded Moses to anoint Joshua as leader before Israel entered the covenant land promised to Abraham.
  
  There is a unique event that occurs in the story of Joshua, as Israel prepares to enter the promised land. Biblical scholars often make translating errors that require careful examination to restore scriptural accuracy. The importance of Israel's first Passover in the promised land will also clarify the questions concerning the mathematical function of the weekly seventh day Sabbath in correlation with the appointed times set by the seasonally variable lunar cycles.

Joshua 5:10 KJV; Jos 5:11 KJV; Jos 5:12 KJV; 10 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. 11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day. 12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
  
[The King James version of Joshua 5:10-11; 12; is the only version that I know of that uses the term old corn. It is important to note; that corn is indigenous to the American continent. Corn was discovered by the Spanish explorers in the late 14th century A.D. and brought back to Europe in the 15th century. Corn was completely unknown to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The humorous part of the story is that Columbus thought he had discovered a way of reaching India by sailing west. That is why the native tribal families of the American continent are called Indians even to this day. The corny connection to the King James translation becomes apparent when a person realizes that King James assumed that the people of India and the Middle East ate corn. That is the only reason that the word corn exists in the Bible. Translators often and erroneous assumptions to their definitions of Hebrew words.]

Joshua 5:10 NIV; Jos 5:11 NIV; Jos 5:12 NIV; 10 On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover. 11 The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain. 12 The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan.

Leviticus 23:10 NASB; Lev 23:11 NASB; 10 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you enter the land which I am going to give to you and reap its harvest, then you shall bring in the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. 11 ‘He shall wave the sheaf before the Lord for you to be accepted; on the day after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

 [A sheaf of grain of the first fruits is waived before Yahweh on the day after the weekly Sabbath that occurs between the first and last day of Unleavened Bread.]

Leviticus 23:14 NASB; Lev 23:15 NASB; 14 ‘Until this same day, until you have brought in the offering of your God, you shall eat neither bread nor roasted grain nor new growth. It is to be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places. 15 ‘You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete sabbaths.

[  In Lev 23:14-15; Israel may not eat of any (produce or yield) of the land until the "Wave Sheaf" is offered to Yahweh. The day of  "Wave Sheaf" begins the day after the weekly Sabbath and continues counting to seven Sabbaths, equaling 49 days. Then add one additional day to reach 50 on Pentecost, the first day after the weekly Sabbath. Using a lunar Sabbath calculating model incorrectly assumes that the  "Wave Sheaf" offering would always occur on the day after the first day of Unleavened Bread that is the 15th of Abib. incorrectly starting the "Wave Sheaf" count on the 16th would require that the next Sabbath occurs on the 22nd and next Sabbath on the 29th. The following new moon may occur on the 30th or 31st even though the next Sabbath is predicted to occur on the 36 day. To continue the count, from day 36 the next Sabbaths would be day 43, 50, 57. The next new moon event will occur on day 60. The count from "Wave Sheaf" that began on day 16 will complete the seven Sabbaths equaling 49 days, on day 64. The final day 50 occurs on day 65 after two lunar cycles. Pentecost would occur on the fifth day after the second lunar cycle ended.  Anyone claiming to follow a lunar Sabbath calculation, states that the Sabbath only occurs on the 8, 15, 22, 29. The lunar Sabbath calculation deceptively ignores counting the day of the new moon on the 30th and every other month there is a 31st day added at the end of a lunar cycle. To claim that lunar Sabbath begin on the 8th day, also conveniently forgets to count day one that begins on the final day of the new moon celebration. 
  I hope this demonstrates that the "Waves Sheaf" always occurs on the day after the weekly seventh day Sabbath that was ordained at the beginning of creation. The seventh day Sabbath is a continual progression of counting 7 days to reach the weekly Sabbath. The weekly Sabbath counting process is completely separate from the lunar cycles that predict the seasonal appointed assemblies of Passover, first and last day of Unleavened Bread, Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles. To correctly reach Pentecost the count always begins on the day after the weekly seventh day Sabbath. Pentecost will occur on day 50 that immediately follows the 7th weekly Sabbath that is 49 days after "Wave Sheaf."
 (Ex 13:4 NASB; Ex 23:15 NASB; Ex 34:18 NASB; Dt 16:1 NASB;)  To assist anyone using a lunar Sabbath calculating model, I will try to demonstrate the mathematical progression of seven Sabbaths. The lunar model predicts that the first day of Unleavened Bread is a Sabbath that falls upon the 15th of Abib, which is the first month of Yehawah's yearly calendar. Than the "Wave Sheaf" must always be on the 16th of Abib. Seven days later is the 22nd of Abib. Seven days later is the 29th of Abib. The new moon occurs on the 30 or 31st and also the first day of the next month. It is necessary to begin counting seven days from the 30th or 31st of Abib, as if it is the first day. The next Sabbath would occur on the six day of the month following Abib. Seven days later the Sabbath would fall on the 13th day. The next Sabbath on the 20th day. The next Sabbath on the 27th day. The new moon, 3 days later, will occur on the 30th day. This leaves four more days to complete the required seven sabbaths to reach the 49th day before Pentecost. The lunar Sabbath model predicts that Pentecost will occur on the fifth day after the beginning of the third lunar cycle. I hope this demonstrates the error of using the lunar Sabbath to calculate Pentecost or any other seventh day Sabbath.]

[ Deuteronomy 29:4; 5; 6; 30:10; 11; 12-13; 14; 15; 16; 17; 18; 19; 20;  For 40 years Moses led the Israelites through the wilderness of sin. during that time Yahweh Elohim provided manna for food and cared for all the Israelites needs. The Israelites did not eat bread from grain or drink fermented wine until after the Wave Sheaf had been offered in the land of Jericho.]

Here is a translation of Joshua 5:10-11; 12; that maintains the original Hebrew sentence structure and word order.

  Joshua 5:10;  And camped then sons of Israel in Gilgal and celebrate then the Passover in the 14th day of month at evening at plains of Jericho.
Jos 5:11; And eat then out of yield of the land, the day after Passover, unleavened cakes toasted ( same the  day; this very ). 
Jos 5:12; (The day after the Sabbath manna {or} that Sabbath manna out of the day before), in eating of yield out of the land, now not to be still sons of Israel’ s manna, so eat then out of the yield of the land of Canaan yearly therein. 

[In Joshua 5:10; almost all translations agree, "that the sons of Israel camped at Gilgal and celebrated Passover in the 14th day of the month at evening on the plains of Jericho."
In Joshua 5:11; begins by stating that the Israelites, "eat out of the yield of the land on the day after Passover, unleavened cakes toasted" there is absolutely no reference to old corn.
At the end of Joshua 5:11; there is a transition to the next sentence that reveals that both sentence 11 and 12 are talking about the same day "same the day, this very,"
In Joshua 5:12; this sentence begins by identifying that the Sabbath occurred the day before the first day of Unleavened Bread "the day after the Sabbath manna" on the first day of Unleavened Bread the Israelites ate of the yield out of the land "in eating of yield out of the land" according to 
Leviticus 23:14; the Israelites could not eat any of the yield of the land until after they had offered the "Wave Sheaf" on the day after the weekly Sabbath. 
It should be obvious from Joshua 5:11; that the Israelites had already eaten of the yield out of the land on the first day of Unleavened Bread, so;
 Joshua 5:12; is identifying that Passover occurred on the weekly Sabbath the day before the first day of Unleavened Bread.
Joshua 5:12; continues by saying "now not to be still sons of Israel's manna" the manna had already ceased on the first day of Unleavened Bread.
Joshua 5:12; ends by saying that the Israelites would continue to eat of the yield out of the land of Canaan from now on "so eat then out of the yield of the land of Canaan yearly therein."

[The accurate reading of the original Hebrew text demonstrates that Passover occurred on the weekly seventh day Sabbath. The first day of Unleavened Bread also became the day of the "Wave Sheaf" and the Israelites ate of the yield out of the land on that very day.
In Leviticus 23:14; begins by saying "until the same day" this demonstrates the clear connection between Leviticus 23:10; 11; and Leviticus 23:14; 15; are identifying the same day, this very day of "Ways Sheaf." 
The ending of Joshua 5:11 makes the same connection to verse 12 by saying "the same day this very" that they are both the same day of "Wave Sheaf.”]

 Joshua's Passover occurred on the weekly Sabbath that year. The seventh day Sabbath is a continual mathematical progression from the time of;
 Genesis 2:2-3; . The Passover & Unleavened Bread and other appointed times for High Holy convocations occur separately from the weekly Sabbath. The seasonally variable lunar cycle can never be used to calculate the weekly Sabbath. Another misunderstood event occurred the year Messiah Yeshua died on Passover. The majority of theologians assume Christianity's Jesus died on a Friday before sunset and arose at sunrise Sunday morning. There is an obvious mathematical discrepancy when properly counting the 24-hour periods needed to complete the prophetic 3 days and 3 nights of Messiah Yeshua being in the tomb and rising on the third day. Long-held Doctrinal errors distort scriptural truth in an attempt to conceal the Sabbath connection to the High Holy appointed times. Counting to the Sabbath

Exodus 16:4; 5; 14; 15; 21-22; 23; 25-26; Yehawah Eloheyem provided bread from heaven for the Israelites. Beginning on the 1st day of the week, the Israelites collected only a daily portion of manna. Each day sufficient manna was collected and on the 6th day the Israelites collected a double portion. No manna was collected on the weekly Sabbath, but Israel ate the preserved manna from day 6. Yehawah Eloheyem established the pattern of manna collection to help Israel inherently count to the 7th day Sabbath. 
  Joshua's Passover reveals important information from the unchanging pattern of the 7th days weekly Sabbath. A double portion of manna was collected on the 6th day that occurred before Joshua's Passover that year. The Israelites ate unleavened manna for the last time on the 7 th day Sabbath Passover. On the following 1st day of the week the Israelites did not find manna, but gazed upon the ripening fields of grain surrounding Jericho.  Yehawah's commandments require the high priest to wave a sheaf of grain, before Israel may eat of the produce of the land. The  1st day of Unleavened Bread also became the Wave Sheaf and then the Israelites collected what they needed to eat that day. This began day 1 of Israel's counting to the 7th day weekly Sabbath. Also, on day 1, Joshua commanded the Israelites to encircle Jericho one time before returning to camp. Each day the Israelites collected a portion of grain and encircled Jericho 1 time before returning to camp. On the 6th day the Israelites collected a double portion of grain and then encircled Jericho 1 time. On the 7th day weekly Sabbath, the Israelites ate the preserved portion of grain. Then silently walked around Jericho 7 times on the Sabbath day. At the Trumpets sound, all Israel shouted as the walls of Jericho collapsed as Yehawah led His people to victory  on His Sabbath day.
  Yehawah Eloheyem's unchanging pattern of the 7th day weekly Sabbath portrays His governing authority and promise to restore His Kingdom over all the earth. When the Israelites obey, then they were learning to trust Yehawah for their food and for victory over their enemies. 
Mt 9:12-13; 12:1; 2; 3-4; 5-6; 7- 8; 11-12; 23:23; Hos 6:6;  Obedience to the Sabbath observance became an important sign of Israel's covenant with Yehawah. The commanded Sabbath stirred many questions concerning what was lawful activity on the day of rest. Messiah Yeshua demonstrated that it was lawful to pick grain and do good works on the Sabbath day. The Israelites also learned that defending their nation from evil enemies is required for maimtaining justice. 
Ro 6:17-18; 19; 20-21; 22-23; 1 Cor 15:20-21; 22-23; 24-25; 26-27; 28; Messiah Yeshua also demonstrates that He is Lord of the Sabbath by His resurrection from the tomb on the Sabbath day. Messiah Yeshua victory over sin and death gives hope to Yehawah's worshipers of the promised Sabbath rest and future resurrection to Eternal Life.

Here is a 7th Sabbat calendar that records the unique New Moon cycle that occured on Joshua's Passover. The calendar New Moon cycle is extended to the Feast of Tabernacles that year. Every year the New Moon cycle will change in it's relationship to the weekly Sabbath.
